State Farm Ranks First, Progressive Last in Nebraska Shop Survey
6/11/2008 1:18:01 PM

The Nebraska Autobody Association's (NABA) annual survey of Nebraska body shops rating insurance companies is now complete and the results are similar to a recent survey of Kentucky shops (click HERE for that story) in that State Farm ranked the best while Progressive ranked the worst.

The survey was based on the 2007 calendar year and asked repairers to rank insurers on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest (worst) rating and 10 being the highest (best) rating.

State Farm achieved an overall rating of 8.38 to keep the top spot for the third consecutive year. Farmers Mutual Insurance came in at number-two with a rating of 7.55, while Battlecreek slid into the number-three position previously held by AAA in 2005 and Union Insurance in 2006 with a rating of 6.77. Progressive finished last with a score of 3.90.

"The most important aspect of the survey is that it underscores the significant variance in how insurers treat their policyholders after a covered loss," said NABA Director Norbert Zaenglein. "One would not expect such a dramatic variance in a well-regulated marketplace. Such a striking difference is cause for concern and should prompt state regulators to review and rev up their market conduct enforcement programs."
