CAPA Recognizes Four Manufacturers

The Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA) has announced its 2008 Marketplace Quality and Marketplace Improvement awards to recognize manufacturers who made CAPA-certified parts more widely available for purchase.

Gordon Auto Body Parts received the 2008 Marketplace Quality Award for providing the U.S. market with the most CAPA-certified parts last year, suppling more than the 22 other manufacturers approved to supply CAPA parts.

Recipients of the 2008 Marketplace Improvement Award are Cobra King Industrial for metal parts, YCC Parts Manufacturing for plastic parts and TYC Brother Industrial for lighting parts. These manufacturers had the highest increase in the number of CAPA parts manufactured and offered from 2007 to 2008.

According to CAPA, a review of the most popular industry catalogs from independent manufacturers showed that almost 90 percent of their offerings weren’t CAPA-certified.

“The manufacturers receiving these awards are responding to the need for more quality alternatives to expensive car company brand parts,” noted Jack Gillis, CAPA executive director. “These companies have stepped up to the plate and improved the quantity of quality parts in the U.S. market. They’re directly addressing the concerns of those collision repairers and insurers seeking quality alternatives who just can’t find them.”
