Spike TV Makes Shop Owner Local Celebrity
6/26/2009

A Tennessee body shop owner got his 15 minutes of fame just for doing his job after being featured on an episode of Spike TV's "Trucks!" over Memorial Day weekend. Gerald Martin – owner of Gerald’s Auto Body and Repair Shop in Pulaski, Tenn. – and his employees demonstrated to the show’s hosts how to straighten the frame of a badly damaged 1996 Dodge truck for the episode, and the locals immediately took notice.

Martin told the Pulaski Citizen that a former shop employee who works at Spike TV heard about the upcoming episode and suggested that Gerald’s Auto Body be featured on the show. After the episode aired, Martin said he experienced an uptick in phone calls, Web site visits and walk-ins to his shop – a welcome surprise.

“Some folks must have seen the episode because we have a lot of people talking to us about it,” Martin said. “One guy came over here from Lawrenceburg and said, ‘Didn’t I see ya’ll on ‘Trucks!?’ Man, y’all can do anything!”

Spike TV will air the “Trucks!” episode featuring Gerald’s Auto Body again on Aug. 1 and 2.
