Shop Owner Raffles Off Own Porsche to Jump-start Business
12/28/2009

Desperate times call for desperate measures, as they say. With business so slow that Steve White contemplated closing his shop, he decided to not go down without a fight and thought of a unique way to boost his workload: raffle off his own personal Porsche Carrera.

In White's estimation, he saved his business and the jobs of the 22 employees at White Auto Body in O'Fallon, Missouri.

"The decisions I make affect 22 families," White told KSDK NewsChannel 5. "This car doesn't matter as much as having a good Christmas and the 22 families having a job all year."

According to KSDK NewsChannel 5's report, White had collected customers' names in a raffle box since August and gained more business as news about the contest spread.

On a humorous note, the winner, a 21-year-old woman, did not take the car home immediately because it has a manual transmission...and she doesn't know how to drive stick.
