SCRS Says DEG Succeeding in Solving Database Issues
6/21/2011 8:55:48 AM

The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) has cited three recent examples that prove the Database Enhancement Gateway (DEG) is benefiting the collision repair industry and should be utilized by more repairers.

Founded in 2008, the DEG was established to provide collision estimating system end-users with a standardized process to provide feedback to the information providers in an effort to promote collision estimating data accuracy. It was founded and is currently managed and funded by the three national associations in the collision repair industry: SCRS, the Automotive Service Association and the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers.

During the week of June 6-10, roughly 500 repairers visited the DEG website, with more than 350 of those visitors being first-time users.

Here are some examples of the inquiries made and their resolutions:

• 3457 – Submitted to CCC on Friday 6/3, resolved on Tuesday 6/7.

• Issue: No time was in the database for apron extension.

• Resolution: Added 2.3 body and .4 refinish. From 0.0 to 2.3.

• 3367 – Submitted to Audatex on Wednesday 5/11, resolved on Thursday 6/2.

• Issue: Insurance wrote estimate for partial replacement of quarter at 5.7 hours.

• Resolutions: Audatex updated database to show partial panel obsolete, now shows 16.8 hours of labor.

• 3447 – Submitted to CCC on Tuesday 6/7, resolved on Thursday 6/9.

• Issue: No time in database for rear cross member.

• Resolution: CCC added 3.0 body and .5 refinish plus other related additional labor.

"This message needs to get in front of every repair facility," said Aaron Schulenburg, executive director of SCRS. "There are resources and tools available to the industry, often in part due to work from associations representing collision repairers. For any repairer who's looking for things to improve, this is the opportunity to be a part of that solution."
