In response to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently initiating the rule-making process to address identified risks associated with the use of trichloroethylene and other chlorinated solvents in aerosol spray degreasers, the Automotive Service Association’s (ASA) mechanical leaders discussed, with the EPA, the potential effects of the proposed rule on automotive repairers. Participants provided examples from their own shops, as well as aggregate information from fellow repairers. ASA states that it will continue to communicate with the EPA as this rule is developed.
