Automechanika, an international trade fair for the automotive industry, has selected 25 exhibitors to be included in its "Green Directory" visitor guide. These exhibitors were chosen for their sustainable and emission-reduced products. Visitors will be able to find their way to these exhibitors at the fair by looking for a green logo around the
exhibition halls.
The competition was open to all exhibitors of Automechanika 2012, which will be
held Sept. 11-16 in Frankfurt, Germany. Approximately 57 companies
submitted products in eight categories (parts, systems, accessories, tuning, repair/diagnostics, repair/maintenance, IT & management, and service station & car wash). Twenty-three of these companies (40 percent) are based in Germany, 34 from other countries (60 percent).
An independent expert, Dr. Gerhard Angerer of the Fraunhofer-Institute for System and Innovation Research ISI, examined all entries with regard to their innovativeness and sustainability. Points were awarded for the subsequent evaluation of material and energy efficiency, and the carbon footprint.
Since 2010, the individual product gaining the most points has been singled out for a special award. This year, the highest score was achieved by Prins Autogassystemen BV with its Prins Direct LiquiMax System, a bivalent fuel system for petrol and liquid petroleum gas. According to Automechanika, this system is innovative, makes a contribution to environmental protection and enables the driver to use cheaper fuel without suffering any restrictions on mobility. It’s is suitable for the aftermarket as a retro-fit product and for automobile manufacturers as original equipment.
