The Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA) announced it has signed a strategic agreement with the People’s Insurance Company of China Limited (Group – PICC Property & Casualty Ltd.), the largest property and casualty insurer in China. CAPA and PICC were joined by the China Automotive Maintenance and Repair Association (CAMRA) collision repair committee and Intertek Shanghai, the certification body of the CAPA program in China.

The agreement was signed on November 13th at the China Insurers DRP Industry Summit held in Zhengzhou, China. With this agreement, the four different parties will collaborate to bring important and diverse areas of expertise to the China market.

CAPA, PICC, CAMRA and Intertek will work together to ensure that Chinese consumers’ vehicles may be repaired with high-quality, certified CAPA parts.

“CAPA is honored to be contributing to the certification of quality parts in China,” said Jack Gillis, CAPA executive director. “This combination of efforts will result in a win for Chinese manufacturers, Chinese insurers and Chinese consumers. Going forward, it will pave the way for more quality parts in the U.S. as well.”

The PICC Property and Casualty Company Limited currently insures more than one third of the Chinese auto insurance market, serving more than 50 million car owners. Xin Bi, general manager, head of claim settlement for PICC, said, “We are pleased to be cooperating with CAPA to practice the policy of adopting matching quality parts in China. The win-win cooperation will bring high-quality, CAPA certified automotive parts as an alternative to our customers.”

Added Jun Feng, general secretary of the Collision Repair Committee of CAMRA, “The Collision Repair Committee of the China Automotive Maintenance and Repair Association acts as the bridge between insurers and the aftermarket in claim settlement service. We also look forward to promoting the certification program to Chinese manufacturers and bringing their high-quality parts to the collision repair industry.”

Intertek, a leading total quality assurance provider to industries worldwide, has been a long-time partner in the CAPA certification program. Intertek Shanghai will serve as the certification body for the CAPA program in China.
