GFS Invests in ‘Green’ Manufacturing Equipment

GFS announced it has invested in a new turret press for its sheet metal processes to help make the company’s manufacturing process environmentally friendlier.

This new turret, a Murata Motorum Servo-Drive press, is 100-percent electrically operated, using about 70 percent less energy than other turrets with similar capabilities. The use of servomotors in place of hydraulics means that there is no need for the use of oils or refrigerant coolers, significantly reducing the environmental impact of the turret’s operation.

In addition, this new turret is more efficient in its operation when compared to the previous turret that was in operation essentially doubling operation speeds and providing improved production capabilities and lowering operating costs.

This new turret has been installed in the GFS Osseo, WI facility.
