GM Takes Shots at Ford F-150 Pickup Truck in New Web Spots

Web spots featuring a grizzly bear and Howie Long aim to illustrate differences between the high-strength steel Chevy Silverado and the aluminum F-150.

GM recently released a biting Web commercial in which it takes almost direct shots at Ford over the cost and speed of the automaker’s pickup truck repairs, USA Today reported.

The Web spot, which could turn into a full-blown TV ad campaign in the future, features NFL broadcast personality Howie Long interviewing an expert about the costs of fixing the aluminum-bodied Ford F-150 truck.

GM claims in the ad that, following a simulated low-speed accident, it cost an average of $1,755 more and took an additional 34 days to fix the F-150 than its direct competitor, the Chevrolet Silverado, USA Today reports.

In another Web spot, GM releases a real-life, 700 lb. grizzly bear on a few men. They must choose between two cages for safety, one made of steel and one made of aluminum.
