I-CAR announced it is commending the Innovation Group, a global provider of insurance software solutions and business process services, for encouraging all of its network repair shops to achieve the Gold Class designation.

The automotive industry is undergoing a transformative shift – also known as the “Technical Tsunami” – with an estimated 142 new or redesigned vehicle models hitting the road in 2015 alone. These changes, which include new designs, materials and manufacturing methods, mean that the training today’s collision repairer professionals receive is critical for complete, safe and quality repairs.

This industry need is, in part, being addressed by Innovation Group through its actions.

The Gold Class designation lets consumers know a collision repair shop has technicians who have received industry-recognized training that contributes to proper repairs and consumer safety. Shops that commit to training are building the knowledge required to properly deal with the increasing levels of vehicle technology complexity each new model year brings. And studies show Gold Class shops successfully translate training into KPI improvements, such as 14.35-percent improved cycle time, 33.75-percent improved touch time, an 11-percent drop in supplements for necessary repairs overlooked in the estimate, and a 5-percent increase in customer satisfaction, and up to 43-percent shorter length of rental.

“I-CAR applauds Innovation Group for encouraging its shops to achieve Gold Class, and recognizing the value of training,” said John Van Alstyne, I-CAR CEO and president. “As the collision repair industry prepares for the tsunami of new vehicles, technologies and materials in the coming years, only businesses that truly build and nurture a ‘learning culture’ will be properly prepared to perform complete, safe and quality repairs in a sustainable manner.”

Welding Training & Certification is a critical training component completed by Gold Class shops, preparing them for addressing structural damage with the latest repair methods for late-model vehicles. When a business achieves Gold Class, it has demonstrated its commitment to ongoing training for the ultimate benefit of the customer and their safety.

“We are excited to support the Innovation Group network with I-CAR’s industry-recognized training program, and provide shops with the information and knowledge that will contribute to delivering best-in-class service and repairs,” said Jennifer Hebda, vendor services at Innovation Group’s Motor Division. “Innovation Group has a strong commitment to excellent service, and training to Gold Class goes hand-in-hand with our company’s values.”
