An article in the Claims Journal indicated that five new insurance commissioners in five states were elected once the polls closed Nov. 8th.
In North Carolina, Democrat Wayne Goodwin, insurance commissioner since 2009, was narrowly defeated by Mike Causey, a Republican and insurance agency owner.
In Montana, the role left vacant by Democrat Monica Lindeen was filled by Republican Matt Rosendale.
In Washington, Mike Kreidler, the state’s insurance commissioner since 2001, held on to his seat for yet another term.
In Delaware, incumbent Karen Weldin Stewart was defeated by current New Castle County Sheriff Trinidad Navarro, a former police officer and insurance agent. Both are Democrats.
In North Dakota, Republican Jon Godfread, vice president of governmental affairs at the Greater North Dakota Chamber, won over Democrat Ruth Buffalo and Libertarian Nick Bata.
