Repairers will be able to receive hands-on training in the newest innovation in repairing plastics – nitrogen plastic welding – at the 2010 BodyShop Business Conference – Succeeding Through Change to be held Sept. 17-18 at the Hilton Hotel and Suites in downtown Indianapolis.
Billy Graham, regional sales manager of Urethane Supply Co., will demonstrate this technology, which can be used to repair bumpers or any thermoplastics. According to Urethane Supply, nitrogen plastic welding is the strongest and most reliable way to weld plastics because it shields the weld area with inert nitrogen gas. The shielding effect prevents oxygen in the air from oxidizing the melted plastic during the welding process, creating a stronger weld. In addition, this technique produces less smoke and a cleaner-looking weld.
Graham’s presentation is one of several conference breakout sessions that will be offered covering a range of technical and business management topics. The conference will also feature a trade show, keynote speaker George Avery of State Farm, a lean panel discussion and more.
