This National Teen Driver Safety Week, Oct. 18-24, NHTSA is launching its “5 to Drive” campaign to start the conversation on safe teen driving.

Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for 15 to 19 year olds in the U.S., according to NHTSA.

Tire Review will join NHTSA to promote the 5 to Drive rules on Facebook and Twitter all week.

The 5 to Drive campaign was created to help parents talk to their teen drivers about driving safely, with a set of five rules that address the most dangerous, and even deadly, teen driving behaviors.

The 5 to Drive rules include:

  1. No Drinking and Driving
  2. Buckle Up. Every Trip. Every Time. Front Seat and Back
  3. Put It Down. One Text or Call Could Wreck It All
  4. Stop Speeding Before It Stops You
  5. No More Than One Passenger at a Time
