Report Finds Top 5 Workplace Accidents and Injuries

More than 1.5 million workers compensation claims filed between 2010 and 2014 from a variety of business sizes and industries were analyzed for the study.

The Travelers Cos. recently released its “Injury Impact Report,” which identifies the most common causes of workplace accidents and injuries, reported Property Casualty 360.

The insurance giant analyzed more than 1.5 million workers compensation claims filed between 2010 and 2014 from a variety of business sizes and industries. The report reveals the top five most common workplace injuries resulting from those accidents.

The top five most common workplace accidents:

  1. Material handling
  2. Slips, trips and falls
  3. Being struck by or colliding with an object
  4. Accidents involving tools
  5. Traumas

The top six most common workplace injuries resulting from these accidents:

  1. Strains and sprains
  2. Cuts or punctures
  3. Contusions
  4. Inflammation
  5. Fractures
