With another wave of winter weather headed for the Midwest, motorists might want to reflect on what happened earlier this week on I-35 near Ames, Iowa.
On Feb. 5, dozens of vehicles were involved in a massive collision on the interstate. One person died in the multi-vehicle pileup, according to news reports.

Overall on Feb. 5, eight people died in crashes across the state, according to the Iowa State Patrol. Several crashes involved motorists running into EMS and police vehicles.
The Iowa State Patrol reminds motorists that state law requires them to change lanes or slow down when approaching emergency vehicles. The agency also urges motorists to drive with caution during inclement weather.
