S/P2 Partners with Green Garage Challenge to Offer Sustainability Training

S/P2 will roll out 12 courses over the next year to help shops save money and go green.

S/P2 has partnered with Green Garage Challenge to provide online training for facilities that participate in the challenge in an effort to promote shop sustainability and expand its course offerings.

“This partnership is a win-win for S/P2, Green Garage and all of the shops that join the challenge,” said Kyle Holt, president of S/P2. “The Green Garage Challenge is all about reducing your facility’s energy costs, and getting shops the rebates and matching funds to improve their businesses. That matches with our goal of providing quality online sustainability training for shops and schools across the country.”

When shops join the Green Garage Challenge, they will receive S/P2’s online safety and pollution prevention training as well as 12 new sustainability courses included with their Green Garage Challenge membership. The new S/P2 online sustainability courses are 12 quick and easy courses designed to provide monthly training for shop staff on such topics as lowering energy costs, increasing shop efficiency, reducing a shop’s waste stream, encouraging employee involvement and learning how to market sustainability to increase their customer base.

“Training is key for shops to improve their sustainability practices,” said Steven Schillinger, president of GRC-Pirk, administrator of the Green Garage Challenge. “This is another excellent opportunity and convenient avenue for shop owners to understand the rewards of eco-friendly practices.” The partnership was rolled out in early May at the NAPA 2015 Expo in Las Vegas, where S/P2 offered a free 30-minute sustainability overview course for mechanical repair shops.
