The Soft Strike Aluminum Conversion Kit (PN3500) allows the technician to protect their existing hammer and dollies by using Soft Strike Aluminum Covers to also work on aluminum body components. Finishing the aluminum door skin process requires the Soft Strike Hard Cap Cover (PN 35025) for Body Hammer with a strong, reinforced nylon head that will not tear when working on aluminum door sharp edges to hammer and dolly the corner and body lines. With aluminum doors, manufacturers are using self-piercing rivets and glue versus welding for the door skins, which is a new process for technicians. With a high-grade hardened steel frame and a 1/2” 20 Grade 8 hex bolt, the SPR Extraction Tool (PN 21970) and SPR Insertion Tool can remove and install self-piercing rivets. The Al Skin Zipper (PN21892) and Al Skin Zipper2, with its self-lubricating, reinforced nylon head, will crimp regular or adhesive bonded 1mm and 1.5mm skins and window flanges. The Al Skin Zipper crimps the edge tightly for a professional rope-hem finish with no damage to the skin in an easy two-step process after removing the SPRs.
