Texas Collision Centers Add Mobile and On-Site Glass Repair to Services

Service King Collision Repair Centers announced today the addition of mobile and on-site auto glass repair and replacement services in the Dallas-Fort Worth area through its 21 collision repair centers. The company now has 13 certified technicians and vans available for auto glass repair and replacement services and hopes to have at least 20 technicians in place within the next three months.

Danny McKinley, vice president of operations for Service King, said the company got out of the glass business five years ago but hopes a few changes to its approach will help make it profitable.

"There are some differences in it now. Before when we tried the glass business, we thought that we knew internally what to do," McKinley said. "This time, we did more research and consulted with other people who are in the business, and we feel like we have a better approach now."

McKinley declined to specify what changes the company made to its approach but said he’s hopeful it will be more profitable this time around. He added since Service King is one of the largest independently owned collision repair companies in the country, it wasn’t difficult to recruit skilled glass technicians.

Service King also is offering auto glass quotes through its Web site, www.serviceking.com, and says a customer service representative will contact Web customers within several minutes to schedule a repair and assist with insurance claims processing. The company hopes the added services will increase its profitability. Service King’s goal is to eventually have a 10 percent share of the Dallas-Fort Worth auto glass repair market.

“We are getting on all the networks and are going to have a much more aggressive approach on the retail side,” said McKinley.
