The National Auto Body Council (NABC) has selected Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012 for its upcoming annual golf event fundraiser, which will again take place at the Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort in Palm Springs, Calif. The event is held in conjunction with the NABC’s open board meeting, which will take place the previous day, Tuesday, Jan. 10.
Because it is a major source of funding for the NABC, the fundraising event plays an integral part in providing the resources that support the organization in its mission of improving the image of all dedicated collision industry professionals. Not only does it help NABC implement the programs and activities that define it and give shape to this purpose, it helps reduce the cost of NABC’s programs for participants, making them more affordable.
The fundraising golf event is open to both individuals and teams, and will be played using a four‐person scramble format. Breakfast will be served at the course prior to the 10 a.m. shotgun start and the event will conclude with a buffet reception, awards ceremony and prize package drawings. Transportation will be provided to and from the Palm Springs Hilton, the conference hotel, to the Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort.
“As this event is the one and only fundraiser for the National Auto Body Council, we are excited that the new start time will allow for an entire day at the course,” said David Merrell of CSi Complete, who with Domenic Brusco of PPG is the NABC fundraising committee co‐chair. “Without this event and the industry’s support we could not continue the mission and vision of the NABC.”
Making the event even more special will be a vehicle gifting presentation which is part of NABC’s Recycled Rides program, a nationwide inter‐industry initiative through which NABC members refurbish donated vehicles and gift them to families in need and organizations dedicated to assisting others. The vehicle gifting will take place at the golf course before play begins.
“Recycled Rides is indicative of the kind of industry‐enhancing initiative our golf outing makes possible,” said NABC Executive Director Chuck Sulkala. “This is the kind of fundraiser that demonstrates how much fun contributing to a good cause can be, which makes it very special. We appreciate the participation of all, and encourage early registration. You won’t want to be left out!”
Registration and sponsorship opportunities will open soon and the event has sold out on a regular basis in past years, so NABC advises interested parties to sign up quickly.
