AkzoNobel and Grinstead Group Honor U.S. Troops During ‘Operation Appreciation’

Four hundred members of the 320th Field Artillery Regiment from Fort Campbell, Ky., stationed in Afghanistan had the opportunity to celebrate the holidays a little early this year. These soldiers were the deserving recipients of 10,000 items that were delivered in 184 very large boxes. The outpouring of support was the result of an effort rightfully dubbed “Operation Appreciation.”

Operation Appreciation was the result of a massive endeavor led by Grinstead Group, a distribution partner of AkzoNobel headquartered in Louisville, Ky. Collection efforts began in late October. Employees and business affiliates of both organizations participated in the effort.

“The response to this worthy cause was overwhelming,” said Mark Young, president of Grinstead Group, Inc. “It is truly gratifying to see individuals and organizations from all across the country come together to support these men and women who are giving so much every day for us.”

Gifts ranged from footballs, volleyballs and soccer balls to hundreds of travel size bottles of shampoo, lotion, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, videos, games, books, snacks, gum and candy.

“It was our privilege and pleasure to join with Grinstead Group and share in this outpouring of support for our troops,” said AB Ghosh, general manager of AkzoNobel Car Refinishes Americas. “As the boxes filled with employee and business affiliates contributions, it was plain to see that everyone was committed to this initiative.”
