The FIT Award is the collision repair industry’s first recognition for organizations that are using business practices that meet the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future, AkzoNobel says. The three-letter acronym represents the three key measurement criteria of the award: Focus, Innovation and Talent. This award was created to promote the leadership role and unique contributions that the collision repair industry is making to generate a more sustainable future, according to AkzoNobel.
Mike Shesterkin, manager of sustainability and business process improvement for AkzoNobel A&AC Americas, noted, “Every journey begins with the first step. Building a sustainable future is a marathon and not a sprint.”
Shesterkin continues, “AkzoNobel took a first step in 2010 when we created this initiative and honored our first recipients. Our 2011 nominees visibly demonstrate the marathon nature of creating sustainable businesses. They are different in geographic locations, size, scope and focus regarding initiatives that they are undertaking; however, they are alike in that they all recognize a global need and share a common bond in their aggressive pursuit to deliver sustainable, environmentally focused business solutions to the collision repair industry.”
The 2011 FIT Awards will be presented as part of the AkzoNobel FIT Sustainability Awards Gala in July. The by-invitation-only event will be hosted by AkzoNobel in Salt Lake City, Utah, in conjunction with the I-CAR industry event and the recognition of the 2011 AkzoNobel Most Influential Women in the Collision Repair Industry.
