AkzoNobel Schedules First Sustainability Leadership Symposium for Salt Lake City

AkzoNobel Automotive & Aerospace Coatings Americas (A&AC) has scheduled the first in a series of Sustainability Leadership Symposiums. This event will occur on Wednesday, July 20 at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah. These symposiums are being established in an effort to bring greater industry focus, understanding and action regarding the subject of sustainability.

“The objective of this inaugural event is to engage key industry stakeholders in constructive dialogue about what it will take to move the collision repair industry towards a sustainable business model,” said Mike Shesterkin, manager of Sustainability and Business Process Improvement for AkzoNobel Automotive & Aerospace Coatings Americas. “This model needs to be one that can be quantified in ways that demonstrate a triple bottom line: people, planet and profit.”  

Moderator for the program will be Dr. Debra Steketee. Dr. Steketee is an Associate Professor of Sustainable Business and Executive Director for the Center of Sustainability at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The symposium will be preceded on Tuesday evening, July 19, by the AkzoNobel 2011 FIT Sustainability Awards. The “FIT” Award is the collision repair industry’s first recognition for visionary businesses that are utilizing business practices which meet the needs of present without compromising the needs of the future. The three letter acronym represents the three key measurement criteria of the award; Focus, Innovation and Talent. This award was created to promote the leadership role and unique contributions which the collision repair industry is making to generate a more sustainable future.
