AkzoNobel announced it has created a low-VOC upgrade for its Sikkens Colorbuild line to be launched in September – Colorbuild Plus 250, a low-VOC true color primer system.

“Colorbuild Plus 250 will retain all of the Direct-to-Metal and Direct-to-Plastic properties that have aided in reducing labor and paint investments. Now, it will be completely compatible with Autowave, our unique waterborne paint system,” said Dakar De La Cruz, Sikkens global product manager for Undercoats.
 
AkzoNobel says it’s a strong advocate of sustainable solutions to improve the environment. In addition to the new levels of environmental compatibility, the product provides color accuracy to the basecoat.

Using Colorbuild Plus 250, no additional primer layer is needed, and sanding is quick, the company says.

“Because of the product’s superior coverage, fewer coats are actually needed to complete the repair,” De La Cruz added.
