ASE and BodyShop Business Name Technician of the Year

Jason Stahl, Editor for BodyShop Business; Joe Torchiana, chairman of the ASE Board of Directors; and Timothy Zilky, ASE President, presented the BodyShop Business/ASE Technician of the Year Award to James Zuege of Williams Auto Body in Green Bay, Wis., at ASE’s annual Board of Directors’ Industry Awards Dinner.The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) honored 38 automotive professionals who were top performers on ASE certification tests at an awards banquet Nov. 19 in San Diego, Calif. James Zuege of Kewaunee, Wis. was named the BodyShop Business/ASE Automotive Technician of the Year at the event.

Zuege is the production supervisor for Williams Auto Body in Green Bay, Wis., and has been an auto body technician for more than 19 years. Zuege also runs a small restoration shop for cars and tractors out of his home and has won several awards for his paint and body work. Zuege lives in Kewaunee, Wis., with his wife, Sherry, and two children.

Twenty-four different companies from both OEM and aftermarket segments sponsored the 38 individual technician recognition awards in the auto, truck and collision categories. In addition to looking for top scores on ASE tests, award sponsors examined on-the-job excellence, community service and other factors to select honorees.

“These awards recognize some of the best technicians in the automotive industry,” said Tim Zilke, ASE president and CEO. “ASE is proud to partner with our many industry sponsors in saluting these talented individuals who serve as outstanding role models.”
