ASE & NATEF Announce Officers for 2009

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) have announced the officers for their boards of directors for 2009.

ASE named Joe Torchiana, One Stop Tire & Auto Service, Inc., West Chester, Pa., its chair. John Pfennig of Navistar, Warrenville, Ill., is vice-chair; Barry Bronson of Valvoline, Lexington Ky., was named treasurer; and Jim Uffer, Truck Tech, Inc., Plainfield, New Jersey, is secretary. Colorado shop owner Stan Elmore, Stan’s Automotive, continues as past chair.

“The volunteer board members from the various segments within the automotive industry have always been one of the key strengths of ASE,” said Tim Zilke, ASE President and CEO. “The diversity of representation of these business segments is well reflected in ASE’s slate of officers for 2009.”

NATEF’s 2009 board officers, include the first female chair in the organization’s history. Lori Blaker, president of Technical Training, Inc., Rochester Hills, Mich., was named chair; Bill Bergen of Toyota, Torrance, Calif., is vice-chair; and Katharine Oliver, Baltimore, Md., is treasurer. Oliver is the assistant state superintendent of career technology and adult learning for the Maryland Department of Education.

“We welcome our 2009 officers and are particularly pleased to announce Lori Blaker as our first woman chair,” said Bill Kersten, NATEF President. “Lori has been an enthusiastic supporter of the NATEF mission and we look forward to her leadership in 2009.”
