An article that appeared in Automotive News states that the new all-aluminum Ford F-150 will allow for easier repairs, quoting Ford engineers who were present at the recent National Automobile Dealers Association convention.
Apron tubes were cited as one example. The article states that in the current F-150, technicians had to remove the instrument panel to get the tube out, which took six to seven hours. In the new F-150, a technician can remove it simply by pulling the rivets.
