Axalta Coating Systems will officially unveil the 2014 Brilliant Flames paint scheme on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C. The scheme will be displayed on the No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet SS race car driven by four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon.
Joining Gordon for a press conference will be motorsports announcer Winston Kelley; Vice President of Axalta Coating Systems and Head of North American Business Nigel Budden; Hendrick Motorsports Chairman and Owner Rick Hendrick; and paint scheme designer Sam Bass.
The new scheme marks the 22nd season of a historical partnership between Axalta, Hendrick Motorsports and Gordon.
“The car has a sleek, colorful racing design fitting of a champion,” said Wade Gordon, strategic marketing director for Axalta North America. “Brilliant Flames symbolizes longevity, style and fire for the business and for the sport. The base colors contain a unique specialty pigment we call Brilliance that reflects a multitude of colors. The car is vibrant like the Las Vegas Strip and is bright like the July sun at the Brickyard in Indianapolis two cities that will host Axalta races this season. When you see the No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet SS circle the track at top speeds, you will understand why Axalta color scientists develop coatings designed to superbly protect and enhance.”
Axalta’s first sponsored race of the 2014 season will showcase the Brilliant Flames paint scheme in Las Vegas on Sunday, March 9 in the Kobalt Tools 400.
