Visitors to Barrett-Jackson’s upcoming fourth annual Las Vegas event
will have the chance to bid on a meticulously restored 1964 Ford
Fairlane custom, painted in the striking “Red Hot Chili Pepper” hue from
the Sherwin-Williams Planet Color Barrett-Jackson Collector Color
Series.
The Fairlane, one from Barrett-Jackson Auction Company President Steve
Davis’ personal collection, will be auctioned off during the No Reserve
event in Las Vegas, Sept. 22-24. One-hundred percent of the sale’s
proceeds will benefit the Armed Forces Foundation, a national non-profit
organization that provides support for wounded service members and
their families, through Project American Heroes. Additionally,
Barrett-Jackson will waive its commissions on the sale, as it has on all
charity sales in recent years.
“Our men and women in uniform are on the front lines every day, and
their families are continually called upon to put others first. We at
Barrett-Jackson feel strongly about this incredible group of people and
amazing charity, and that’s why I am willing to give up one of my prized
possessions to show how thankful I am,” said Davis, who has owned the
car for some time after acquiring it from a friend as “just a body with a
rear axle under it.”
The car, which underwent hundreds of hours of restoration and detailing,
was a showstopper at the 2009 SEMA convention, where it was displayed
at the Sherwin-Williams booth. It features a Roush Performance 427IR,
8-stack fuel injection 560 HOP engine with torque of 540 ft-lbs and a
Tremec TKO 6-speed.
Its custom finish comes from the Sherwin-Williams Planet Color
Barrett-Jackson Collector Color series a line of optically enhanced
automotive paints containing special combinations of highly reflective
additives. The color, “Red Hot Chili Pepper” (No. PCFP2), is one of 25
colors in the factory-package, custom paint line.
The Fairlane is the fourth vehicle Barrett-Jackson has offered in
support of Project American Heroes. The company has increased the Armed
Forces Foundation’s exposure and donations through the auction of three
other special charity vehicles, garnering $880,000 for the foundation.
“We hope that the special touches and the eye-catching, rich
Sherwin-Williams Planet Color paint scheme on this incredible car will
drive bids high during the auction,” Davis added.
