BASF Announces Winner of Fourth Annual Glasurit Best Paint Award

BASF has announced a 1971 Ford Maverick owned by Jimmy Shaw and built by Greening Auto Company with Glasurit 55 Line finish, “Glasurit Go Fast Greening Gray,” as the winner of the fourth annual BASF Glasurit Best Paint Award at the 2018 SEMA Show.

Out of a field of more than 30 entries, the Maverick stood out for its immaculate detail, according to award judge and presenter Chip Foose.

“The detail on the Maverick was magnificent,” said Foose. “The Greening team mastered an excellent fit and finish with sharp lines from the doors to the edges. It’s exciting to see builds top each other year after year through the Glasurit Best Paint competition. The care and precision taken on this project is apparent throughout the entire build.”

Added Jesse Greening, owner of Greening Auto Company, “It’s a huge honor to be noticed by one of the industry’s greatest builders. We strive to create the highest quality build with the best finish for our customers, but being recognized by BASF and Chip Foose is beyond what we have hoped.”

Other notable finalists for the award included a 1971 Chevrolet K-5 Blazer painted in Glasurit 90 Line “Brazilian Smoke” by Ringbrothers, owned by Susan and Paul Hetterich, and a 1971 GTO built by Roadster Shop in Glasurit 90 Line.

The Glasurit Best Paint Award was created to honor outstanding excellence in vehicle painting using Glasurit 22, 55 or 90 Line products, including primer, color and clear. Legendary restoration expert Chip Foose and long-time Glasurit advocate judged the contestants based on fit and finish, quality of preparation and final presentation.
