BASF Appoints New Vice President for Automotive Refinish Coatings in North America

Paul Whittleston, former staff to the president of market and business development, North America, will be based in Southfield, Mich.

BASF recently announced that it has named Paul Whittleston as vice president for automotive refinish coatings in North America, effective Jan. 1, 2013. Whittleston will be based in Southfield, Mich., in his new role.
 
Prior to this appointment, Whittleston served BASF as staff to the president of market and business development, North America. His career started in 1993 with Ciba Specialty Chemicals in the United Kingdom. He has also worked for Ciba’s Water & Paper Treatment Segment in Asia and Ciba’s Specialty Chemicals business in Tarrytown, N.Y., as global head of marketing and new business development for the Process & Lubricant Additives business. Following the integration of Ciba into BASF in 2009, he served as business manager for BASF’s Fuels & Refinery Chemicals in North America.
 
“Whittleston brings a wealth of experience to the position, including key roles in laboratory, commercial, business leadership and global marketing positions,” said Juan Carlos Ordonez, senior vice president coatings solutions, North America. “We look forward to leveraging this expertise in the area of automotive refinish coatings.”
 
Whittleston holds an MBA from the University of Bradford, Yorkshire, U.K.; an MSc in environmental analytical science from Sheffield Hallam University, Yorkshire, U.K.; and a BSc in chemistry with analytical chemistry from the University of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, U.K.
