BASF Launches SmartCOLOR Online Tool

BASF Automotive Refinish has launched its new SmartCOLOR Online tool, which it says will provide collision repair centers and distributors with speedy access to its online color retrieval system.

The tool, which allows access from computers and mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, provides information on all of the latest color formulations in BASF’s global color database.

“The advantage of the SmartCOLOR Online tool is that as formulas are updated, they are immediately available to our customer base,” said Eric Heisler, eBusiness product manager, BASF Refinish. “No longer do our customers have to wait to receive updated formulas on CDs or DVDs as in the past. In addition, the tool is available in a convenient mobile version, so customers won‘t need to tote a laptop with them. With a Wi-Fi connection, they can use a tablet or a phone to look up a formula from anywhere.”

The tool features search fields to look up information by code, manufacturer, year, paint line, gloss, color name and application. It also offers tri-color lookup and fleet lookup, and remembers user settings such as language, country, mix size and formula exclusions.

“At BASF, we create solutions that help our collision repair center customers improve their efficiency and effectiveness, and in turn their bottom line,” said Paul Whittleston, vice president, BASF Coatings Solutions. “The new SmartCOLOR Online tool is one great example of how we’re working to achieve that.”
