BASF Improves R-M Onyx HD System

Onyx HD is a low-VOC paint system that can be mixed as either a waterborne or solventborne system, giving shops the option of installing only one paint line.

BASF-Onyx-HD-systemBASF has recently made improvements to its R-M Onyx HD automotive refinish system to provide more precise color matching capabilities.

BASF states that Onyx HD is the industry’s first and only low-VOC paint system that can be mixed as either a waterborne or solventborne system – giving shops the option of installing only one paint line.

“This gives body shops a lot of flexibility. It allows the painter to select the right product for the given job,” said BASF R-M Brand Market Segment Manager Mike Freeman.

The Onyx HD system dries up to five times faster than some competitive brand and averages 0.5 less coats than some competitors. The system fully aligns with the BASF COLOR-MAX system – a fast and accurate color tool.

Gillette’s CARSTAR Collision Center recently posted an Onyx HD testimonial video to YouTube. Click below to view it.
