Car West Auto Body, a six-location MSO in the Bay Area, teamed up with Farmers Insurance to present a 2005 Mazda 6 to a local family in need on Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Family Community Church in San Jose, Calif. Approximately 3,000 people attended this presentation, which was streamed live worldwide.
Along with Farmers Insurance, the car giveaway was sponsored by the Family Community Church, Hertz and LKQ Corporation.
“Many of us are more fortunate than others and have never been in a position where we have no place to go, sleep or eat,” said Craig Moe, president of Car West Auto Body. “It is imperative that we all give a little because the little that we give can mean the world to another’s life.”
Prior to being helped by the Family Community Church, the once homeless Rafidi family found refuge in their old car and local campsites as a result of abrupt job and income loss. They stabilized their lives with new jobs and a new home this past year with the help of the church. In addition to the new vehicle, the family will be supplied with insurance coverage and gas cards for six months.
The collision repair company will continue helping families in need by giving cars away quarterly.
