Collision Industry Foundation Seeking Auction Items

As part of the Collision Industry Foundation (CIF) Blanket the City initiative, the CIF will be conducting an EBay auction to in May 2009 with a goal of raising $200,000 in support of the two Detroit charities. The foundation is seeking sizable donations of equipment, software, services and novelty items from industry partners for the auction.

In June 2008, the Collision Industry Foundation (CIF) initiated the Blanket the City campaign to help distressed communities and specific charities. The foundation selected Detroit, one of the hardest hit of all automotive communities, and three Detroit charities were designated to benefit from this campaign: Gleaners Food Bank, Downtown Detroit Partnership and the Children’s Home of Detroit. Unfortunately, after 172 years, the Children’s Home shut its doors for lack of funding.

To date, the following items have been donated: ad space on the trunk lid of the No. 12  Penske Dodge Charger for the August Michigan International Speedway NASCAR race (Penske Racing), a replica “Woodys” drivable go-cart with custom paint job (PPG), an autographed Jeff Gordon firesuit/race uniform (DuPont), paint shakers and a waterborne air amplifier system (Dedoes Industries, Inc.), and a $10,000 PBE materials credit voucher (Single Source, Inc.).

The Foundation will promote and market the auction within the industry as well as to consumers outside the industry. Any and all desirable items are welcome.  If you’d like to donate to the auction, please contact the CIF office at (804)427-6982.  For more information about the CIF, visit www.collisionindustryfoundation.org.
