ESAB Answering Customer Questions via Social Media

ESAB recently upgraded to the Facebook Timeline and is using Facebook to answer questions, post educational materials and videos, and listen to feedback from welders.

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products says it’s using social media to connect with customers in a new way.

ESAB recently upgraded to the Facebook Timeline and is using Facebook to answer questions, post educational materials and videos, and listen to feedback from welders. The company’s Facebook page has more than 28,000 "Likes."

"Our Facebook page has opened up new lines of communication with our customers. Not only are we able to address customers’ needs and questions directly, but we’re also able to engage in an open forum for the first time, which has provided a new level of relationship between ESAB and our customers," said Sue Bartholomew, marketing director for ESAB North America.

ESAB also communicates using Twitter and YouTube and has developed a smartphone app that allows users to determine the proper parameters for welding.

"It’s not all work, though," said Bartholomew. "We also have several fun contests on our Facebook page. We give away a HandyPlasma 250 prize package every month, as well as other prizes."
