Property Casualty 360 reported that former NFL wide receiver Jeff Webb is accused of being the ringleader of a group that staged car collisions to defraud insurance companies.

Webb, 34, played for the Kansas City Chiefs. The California Department of Insurance issued a statement July 6th stating that Webb has been arrested on multiple felony counts following crashes that resulted in $70,000 in claims and a total potential loss of $139,000.

The group supposedly bought insurance policies for privately owned cars and rental vehicles, and then would purposefully crash them. The suspects would then request medical help, despite the vehicles only suffering minor damage.
