Global Collision, an eight-store operation based in Boulder, Colo., announced that it has received the bronze award as part of the Colorado Department of Health and Environment (CDPHE) Environmental Leadership Program.
The award was given to recognize Global Collision’s commitment to the environment. Global Collision is the only collision repair facility in Colorado currently recognized by the program, which is the most stringent environmental award program in Colorado.
“I value Colorado’s incredible landscape and accessibility to the outdoors," Global Collision CEO George Lilley said. "Most of our competitors (95 percent) are still applying solvent-based paint. I made a decision in 2008 to convert all eight of our Colorado facilities to waterborne paints. I can only assume that CDPHE was impressed that we retrained our staff, made the appropriate financial investment and have already eliminated over three tons of VOCs from being released into the environment.”
