Hub City Auto Paints & Supplies Transitions to New Owner

AkzoNobel announced that Hub City Auto Paints & Supplies, LTD, an AkzoNobel distributor in Canada, has transferred ownership from founder Harold Keith to Douglas E. Steeves. The sale of the company is effective on October 1, 2010.

Hub City Auto Paints & Supplies serves New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Cumberland County, Nova Scotia with three stores located in Moncton, New Brunswick; Fredericton, New Brunswick; and Amherst, Nova Scotia. Keith began Hub City Oxygen in 1969 and expanded his business to include auto refinishes in 1984. After selling Hub City Oxygen in 1995, the company name was changed to Hub City Auto Paints & Supplies, LTD. The distributor offers the AkzoNobel product line, including Sikkens, Lesonal, Utech and Wanda. Keith will take on an advisory management role during a transition period.

“Hub City Auto Paints & Supplies is Highly respected in the Maritime area and known for outstanding customer service and representing industry-leading technology. We look forward to continuing this rich tradition of service and nurturing the business relationships that have made Hub City a market leader,” said Douglas E. Steeves.

Steeves brings more than 30 years of experience in the automotive industry to this venture, including 14 years as owner of a successful GM franchise in Nova Scotia. He was the first automotive dealer in Nova Scotia to embrace the Sikkens waterborne paint system in the dealership’s body shop. In October 2008, Steeves sold the dealership to a local GMC dealer. Active in the industry throughout his career, Steeves has served as director of the General Motors Dealer Marketing Board of Atlantic Canada and vice president of the Nova Scotia Automobile Dealers Associations, and he is a member of Canadian Automobile Dealers Association.
