I-CAR Education Foundation Recognizes Top Volunteer Committees

In 2009, the I-CAR Education Foundation will award over $150,000 in student scholarships, instructor training grants, and curriculum grants. While part of the grant funding was provided by donations from industry members and organizations, a portion of that grant funding was raised by I-CAR Volunteer Committees who hosted local fundraisers. These events have included car shows, awareness events and golf tournaments. Due to the amount of effort put in by I-CAR volunteers, the I-CAR Education Foundation recognized these groups at the I-CAR 30th Anniversary celebrations.

“The I-CAR Volunteer Committees provide a direct link between the I-CAR Education Foundation, collision repair schools and students, and the local collision marketplace in need of efficient and productive entry-level workers,” said Scott Kruger, I-CAR Education Foundation executive director. “On behalf of collision repair educators and students nationwide, the I-CAR Education Foundation thanks these committees for their commitment to their local schools and for their vision, creativity and hard work in hosting these fundraising events.”

Following are the volunteer committees recognized with awards:

2009 I-CAR Committee of the Year – Broward County I-CAR Volunteer Committee
This award involves recognizing the individual I-CAR Volunteer Committee that went above and beyond to support their local career and technical schools and colleges. The chosen volunteer committee not only raised funds through various fundraising events but also took an active role working with school instructors and administrations to strengthen the local collision schools.

2009 Best Fundraising Event Award – Atlanta I-CAR Volunteer Committee
The I-CAR Education Foundation created an award to honor an I-CAR Volunteer Committee that had the best fundraising event. The chosen I-CAR Volunteer Committee not only raised a great deal of funding, which will go toward grants for their local school, but also helped to spread the word about the I-CAR Education Foundation Mission.

2009 Fueling the Future Award – Springfield I-CAR Volunteer Committee

This award recognizes an I-CAR Volunteer Committee that has embraced the new mission of the I-CAR Education Foundation and has stepped up to support their local schools. The chosen I-CAR Volunteer Committee has already began work creating a new relationship with their local collision school and is looking forward to hosting their first fundraising event in the fall.

The I-CAR Education Foundation encourages all I-CAR Volunteer Committees to get involved with local schools. Groups interested in hosting a fundraising event should call (888) 722-3787, ext. 282 for more information or visit www.ed-foundation.org.
