I-CAR instructors and volunteers gathered in Schaumburg, Ill., Feb. 7-9 for I-CAR’s North Central Regional Conference for a weekend of recognition, professional development and industry networking.
“The instructors and volunteers of I-CAR are the lifeblood of I-CAR’s 35-year legacy as a grassroots organization," said Jeff Peevy, I-CAR senior director of field operations and segment development. “This annual event recognizes instructors and volunteers for the important work they do and their service and commitment to collision repair training.”
During the event, I-CAR committee chairmen were recognized for their 2013 results, while individuals from I-CAR’s north central region were recognized with the Lon Baudoux Instructor of the Year Award and the Founder’s Award.
Greg Hagan was honored with the Lon Baudoux Instructor of the Year Award, which is presented to an I-CAR instructor who most exemplifies the I-CAR presence in the classroom through commitment to excellence and keeping pace with technology.
Hagan, or “Pastor Greg” as he’s known in his local community, has a big presence in Evansville, Ind., and the surrounding area. Hagan has worked his way up in the collision industry and currently runs a large dealership-based collision facility in addition to dedicating time and energy to delivering the I-CAR mission.
“Pastor Greg has single-handedly shaped how folks experience training throughout the lower half of his home state," said Ed Mayer, I-CAR north central regional manager. "Always dedicated, Greg can be found at industry events and committee meetings. It is an honor to recognize Greg Hagan as this year’s Instructor of the Year!”
The Founder’s Award is presented to one individual in each I-CAR region who most exemplifies the I-CAR volunteer spirit. An I-CAR founder’s ring is given to each recipient. Denny Posekany of Arnold Motor Supply in Iowa was recognized as this year’s north central region Founder’s Award recipient.
“Denny Posekany of Iowa is perhaps one of our most visible volunteers there," Mayer said. "He has unique skills and patience and has demonstrated how well he is able to schedule classes in Iowa from east to west. We need more Dennys out there. He is an example for us all.”
Added Peevy, “The recognition that was given to each of these individuals was well-deserved. Their contributions to our industry are so valuable, and for that, we thank them."
