Illinois Body Shop Offers Training on Rescuing Persons with Disabilities
Zara’s Collision Center invites fire departments, rescue squads and ambulance services to shop for free course.
Zara’s Collision Center will be offering a “Rescue 4 Disabled” class a free training course on how to properly handle and care for persons with disabilities at accident scenes and mass casualty events. The class will be held Monday, July 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Zara’s Collision Center, located at 3117 Wide Track Drive in Springfield, Ill.
“We have invited all of the fire departments, rescue squads and ambulance services in Central Illinois,” said Brad Zara, co-owner. “Knowing how to handle persons with disabilities is critical for a favorable outcome to an emergency incident.”
The course is designed for first responders and CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) members. It provides information on the construction of mobility vehicles, along with proper procedures for shut-down, stabilization, access and patient extraction. Mobility vehicles will also be on hand.
