Intrepid Direct Becomes Newest Corporate Member of SCRS

Intrepid’s focus has been on leveraging their team and technology to offer collision repair business insurance in a more efficient way, to add value to a business and provide a better insurance experience.

Intrepid Direct Insurance, a specialized direct provider of insurance coverage and service for automotive industry businesses, has become the newest corporate member of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS).
Intrepid’s focus has been on leveraging their team and technology to offer collision repair business insurance in a more efficient way, to add value to a business and provide a better insurance experience.
“Like SCRS, Intrepid Direct is committed to improving the industry and promoting excellence for our customers,” said David Willett, general manager, Auto Aftermarket for Intrepid Direct. “We know the increasing complexity and liability the members of this industry face to meet OE vehicle repair standards, attract and train new talent, stay up with technology and grow margins. Understanding all those challenges was actually a big influence in our focus in developing a completely disrupted model for business insurance, intended to save those same businesses money and time. I absolutely believe we can help collision repair businesses through our factory-direct pricing model, creating an easier and cost-effective solution for a personalized, tailored insurance policy.”
Willett, a leader in the automotive aftermarket and insurance industries for over 25 years, was a major player in the development of all aspects of the program including underwriting, actuarial, loss prevention and distribution for the one-time market leader in the auto aftermarket space.
“Given my experience in the industry with other more traditional companies in this space, I knew that joining SCRS was a priority,” Willett said. “We believe repair facilities deserve well-supported national advocates, and Intrepid Direct wanted to become an active member of SCRS because we believe that it stands for quality in the collision repair industry. SCRS’ brand and membership promote professionalism in the collision repair industry, and that is what we want to align with. Our team wants to help those professionals overcome business challenges and walk through quotes, claims, risk management and policies. Intrepid Direct is dedicated to the collision repair industry and to uphold the ‘Repairer Driven’ commitment.”
Added SCRS Chairman Kye Yeung, “The industry conversations have all focused quite a bit on repair procedures, approach and the impact of our decisions as businesses charged with restoring safety and consumer’s confidence in their vehicle after a loss. As the challenges and complexities of the vehicles we work on expand, it’s important to have options to protect our businesses and allow us to work with peace of mind. Knowing that companies understand the dynamics we are facing, are prioritizing supporting the industry, and delivering greater protection at more affordable rates is really a fantastic thing. We are appreciative of the support from Intrepid Direct, and look forward to watching their intended disruption benefit the collision businesses we serve.”

The comments were in support of the renewal and expansion of exemptions facilitating consumers’ and businesses’ right to repair their own products.

The Auto Care Association is applauding recent comments the FTC and DOJ made supporting renewal and expansion of exemptions facilitating consumers’ and businesses’ right to repair their own products.

"Auto Care Association supports the Joint Comment of the DOJ and the FTC encouraging the Librarian of Congress to renew and expand repair-related exemptions that would promote competition in markets for replacement parts, repair and maintenance services, as well as facilitate competition in markets for repairable products," said Bill Hanvey, president and CEO, Auto Care Association. "In particular, on behalf of the entire automotive aftermarket, Auto Care Association agrees with the DOJ and the FTC that the Class 7 exemption to allow vehicle owners and repair facilities greater access to vehicle diagnostic and telematics data for monitoring purposes is critically important to lower the cost of repairs, improve access to repair services, and minimize costly and inconvenient delays."
