Minnesota Shop Promotes Extreme Car Makeover Contest

Body shops are continually looking for ways to give back to their communities, and a good example of that is Fairway Collision and Automotive’s idea to hold an "Extreme Car Makeover Contest." The shop, located in Vadnais Heights, Minn., is going to "pimp" the ride of one deserving applicant aged 18 years or older whose busted up car is preventing him or her from getting to a job and who can’t afford the repairs.

"Tough economic times are a call to action for businesses and communities," says Fairway co-owner and general manager Kevin Lund. "We’re the ones who must reach out and help those who need a leg up – or wheel – to get to a job, find work, take the kids to the doctor and so on."

"It’s a vicious circle," Lund added. "When someone’s income barely covers daily necessities and his or her vehicle breaks down, it’s the beginning of a downward spiral. Fairway has pledged to help stop the spiral for a deserving individual or family by getting their car back in good working order."

To qualify for the makeover, applicants must submit a write-up of 250 words or less telling why they deserve an "Extreme Car Makeover." They also need to ianclude the vehicle make, model and year; whether there are other vehicles in the household and their condition; and their address and phone number.

Fairways is accepting entries at [email protected] and by regular mail to Kevin Lund at Fairway Collision Center, 125 East County Rd. F, Vadnais Heights, MN 55127-6999.

Entries must be received by June 15, 2008. Applicants must reside in Minneapolis/St. Paul or their suburbs. Application submissions and photos will not be returned and will become the property of Fairway Collision and Automotive. Only one application per person or household is allowed. Fairway will be unable to verify receipt of applications.

Qualifying applications will be reviewed by Fairway and its partners, including Kath Auto Parts, Norm’s Tires and FinishMaster. The contest winner will be notified by July 1, 2008.
