National Auto Body Council Opens Nominations For 2015 Awards

Award of Distinction and the Body Shop Image Award recognize individuals and collision industry facilities that have made a beneficial impact in their communities and in the industry.

The National Auto Body Council (NABC) is seeking nominations for its two industry awards:  the Award of Distinction and the Body Shop Image Award.

NABC’s awards program recognizes individuals and collision industry facilities that have made a beneficial impact in their communities and in the industry.

As part of its 2015 recognition program, the NABC plans to publicize, highlight, and call attention throughout the year to outstanding individuals and body shops and their extraordinary efforts.

“The NABC industry awards program celebrates businesses and individuals whose efforts exemplify the professionalism and integrity of our collision industry,” said Marie Peevy, chair of NABC’s 2015 Awards Program. “We encourage everyone to submit nominations right away so we can start to share the many wonderful contributions our colleagues are making across the country.”

Co-winners of NABC’s Award of Distinction last year were Mike Startz with Albert Kemperle, Inc., in Rhode Island, who was recognized for his selfless and heroic actions when he rescued a woman and her two small children from a burning car. The co-winner was Chet Bourdeau with Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc., (IAA) in Manchester, N.H., who mentored a 23-year-old young man with autism as part of IAA’s new young adult internship program.

The 2014 Body Shop Image Award winner was 1st Avenue Auto Body in Great Falls, Mont. The facility’s remodel was an extended family affair, a joint effort by all employees working to create a larger, appealing and welcoming area for customers. Employees did the majority of the physical work, from installing flooring and plumbing to refinishing of furniture pieces. The décor was also a family project – an aluminum art piece above the fireplace was created by owners Evelyn and Ken LaMott’s grandchildren.

Award of Distinction

This award has been given for bravery, philanthropy, charity and selfless acts of kindness. It transcends the rigors of daily business to uncover those helping the world around them without a thought of recognition for themselves. Any individual, business organization or group employed in a collision industry-related segment, such as a collision repair facility, vehicle manufacturer, supplier/vendor, educator, insurer, independent appraiser or trade association, is eligible to be nominated.

Body Shop Image Award

Winners will be selected by an NABC Award Committee based on the most significant improvements made to the shops’ interior and exterior. Any body shop completing a remodeling during the calendar year 2014 is eligible to be nominated. One winner and three runners-up will be recognized.

Winners of both the Award of Distinction and the Body Shop Image Award will be announced at the Collision Industry Conference during the SEMA Show in November in Las Vegas. Each finalist will also be featured and recognized on the NABC website and in other publicity efforts.

Online nominations and more information for both awards are available at www.NationalAutoBodyCouncil.org.  For more information, contact Marie Peevy, awards program chair, at [email protected] or (630) 881-7945.
