North Haven Auto Body Named New England Shop of the Year

North Haven Auto Body, North Haven, Conn., has been named the New England “Shop of the Year” by Damage Report magazine, a collision repair trade publication.

North Haven Auto Body, founded in 1938, is owned by Bob McSherry. McSherry purchased the business from its previous owner 10 years ago. The shop occupies a 14,800-square-foot building and employs 21 staff members. McSherry expects the shop to do nearly $5 million in business this year. The shop features 20 bays, five frame machines and two downdraft spraybooths.

“The purpose of the Damage Report ‘Shop of the Year’ award program is to spotlight those collision repair businesses in New England who are customer focused, professionally managed and forward thinking,” said Bill McDonough, editor of Damage Report. “The fact that the three shops we chose to honor vary widely in size and scope shows that good customer service and professionalism is a hallmark of leading shops, no matter how big or small.”

Second place in the 2009 Shop of the Year competition was awarded to Herb Chambers Collision Center of Braintree, Mass., and third place went to Boston Body Works in Boston, Mass. The winning shops were honored during the Massachusetts Auto Body Association’s annual meeting in Oxford, Mass.

McDonough said that through the support of presenting sponsor Future Cure Paint Booths, the winning shop will receive a trip for two to NACE.
