Painters Supply & Equipment Co. Names Guy Bargnes VP of Sales and Marketing

Painters Supply & Equipment Co. announced that industry veteran Guy Bargnes has accepted the position of vice president, sales and marketing, effective June 14, 2010. In this role, he will be responsible for sales and profit growth via strategic initiatives set forth by the company.

Bargnes joins Painters Supply with a lifetime of PBE experience. From 1975 to 1992, he was a third-generation owner/operator of a four-store PBE jobber business named V.H. Bargnes, Co., based in Buffalo, N.Y. After the company was sold in 1992, Bargnes began a 17-year career with BASF Corporation. His most recent position at BASF was director of U.S. sales, Automotive Refinish, from 2007 to 2009. Prior to that role, Bargnes was director of marketing, North America Automotive Refinish, from 2000 to 2006. He held various strategic sales and marketing positions within BASF’s automotive refinish business from 1992 to 1999.

Bargnes has remained active within the automotive refinish industry, consulting via Bargnes Associates, LLC, and continues to serve on numerous trade organizations such as the National Auto Body Council (NABC), Paint, Body & Equipment Specialists (PBES) segment of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), I-CAR Education Foundation and Collision Industry Conference (CIC).

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Canisius College in Buffalo and has advanced management training from the Center for Creative Leadership at Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario.
