PPG Automotive Refinish Distributor to Race With Rusty Wallace

Strongsville, Ohio – PPG Automotive Refinish launched its new fast-drying Deltron DC3000 Velocity Clear with a NASCAR promotion, but after the launch, what landed on the decklid of Rusty Wallace’s race car was one lucky PPG Automotive Refinish distributor!

This national promotion, which was targeted to PPG Automotive Refinish distributors and provided an opportunity to award prizes to eight PPG distributors and their PPG territory managers, generated overwhelming new sales within the 10 weeks that the promotion ran. Collision repair industry leader Denise Lloyd, publisher of BodyShop Business, helped to draw the winning entry cards from a tremendous number of entries at PPG Automotive Refinish headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio.

Grand-prize winner Roger Buffington of All Paint Supply, Farmington, N.M., will have a super-charged experience Oct. 9-12 at the UAW-GM 500 NASCAR Winston Cup Race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C. Buffington will share the sponsor spot of PPG Automotive Refinish and will get his business name prominently placed on the decklid of Rusty Wallace’s race car. He’ll also be given VIP race credentials, be in the pits as an honorary member of the Penske Racing pit crew, tour the Penske Racing facility, get behind the wheel of a Winston Cup style stock car during a personal Fast Track Driving School and play golf with Rusty Wallace. The trip includes all travel and accommodations for Buffington and his guest, as well as Buffington’s PPG Automotive Refinish Territory Manager Rami Fernandez and his guest.

The race will be televised nationally by NBC TV on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m., and Buffington plans to leverage his race car “sponsorship” – which includes the use of Rusty Wallace’s race car visuals – with local marketing and public relations.

Second-prize winners Sam’s Paint & Body of Chippewa Falls, Wisc., and Colours of Ephrata, Pa., as well as their PPG Automotive Refinish territory managers, will receive a gift certificate for a driving lesson behind the wheel of a Winston Cup style stock car at any of the six Fast Track Driving School locations.

The five third-prize winners of an authentic NASCAR Penske Racing leather jacket are Norglen Inc. of Long Branch, N.J.; Northern Indiana Paint Supply, Inc. of Warsaw, Ind.; Keystone Automotive of Dubuque, Iowa; Autocolor Service, Inc. of Roseburg, Ore.; and Moores’ PBE, Inc. of Columbus, Ohio. Each of their PPG Automotive Refinish territory managers will also receive this leather jacket.

PPG Automotive Refinish named its DC3000 clear “Velocity” because the product is faster and more advanced than standard clears, providing up to a 40 percent reduction in process time and 14 percent reduction in temperature required for a full bake.
