In its ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive professional training, the Automotive Refinish business unit of PPG has expanded and improved several of its Business Development Centers to “state-of-the-art levels.” The upgrades enhance PPG’s resources and capabilities for training painters, distributors, and body shop and collision repair professionals to successfully use the company’s array of automotive refinish coatings.

Two Business Development Centers in particular – PPG’s Allison Park, Pa., facility, just minutes from the company’s global headquarters in Pittsburgh, and the Baltimore center – have undergone extensive renovations.

The Allison Park building has been completely remodeled and expanded from 2,400 square feet to 9,000 square feet. It now includes two classrooms, a new conference and break room, two new GFS downdraft spraybooths, an 18’ x 30’ mixing room, a downdraft prep deck and twin 20 hp Kaeser compressors. The Baltimore facility space has been expanded to 7,020 square feet from 5,520 square feet. Improvements include a second classroom, a new extended GFS downdraft spraybooth and twin 20 hp Kaeser compressors.

“We trained over 16,000 students last year – more than any other automotive paint company,” said Randy Cremeans, PPG director of training. “Painters, technicians, distributors and the entire spectrum of collision repair professionals rely on us to provide the best training opportunities possible. By maintaining exceptional facilities staffed by PPG training professionals, we’re creating an elite environment where we conduct the kind of training that ensures PPG customers can stay far ahead of their competition.”

PPG offers classes in collision refinish, commercial coatings, distributor operations, MVP Green Belt and business training, custom painting, restoration, airbrushing and pinstriping. To keep up with demand, the company is offering an increased number of classes in 2016. Courses will be available at the two centers noted above as well as at 14 other PPG Business Development Centers in the United States and Canada.
