Recycled Rides Still in Need of Almost 70 Vehicles

With the Oct. 15 donation deadline quickly approaching, a historic response to the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) Recycled Rides program has created an unprecedented demand for cars, the organization says. This year, 138 shops have volunteered to restore vehicles to donate to families or charities in need of reliable transportation, and NABC says 68 of those shops are still in need of vehicles to repair for the program.

"There’s no delicate way to put it — time is running out," said Recycled Rides Vehicle Procurement Chair Mary Lou Silveira. "We, as an industry, have the will to help turn people’s lives around. It would be terrible if our inability to get suitable vehicles prevents this from happening. Please don’t let Recycled Rides become a victim of its own success."

The ideal vehicle for donation is a minivan less than 10 years old with less than 70,000 miles on it. Any four-door family-friendly vehicles are also welcome, NABC says.

To donate, contact the NABC at 888-66707433 or by email at [email protected]. You can also contact Silveira at 214-869-6453 or [email protected].
